SOS BirdLife Slovakia logo"The nestlings in those days learn to fly and often jump from the nest too early. Citizens will find them on the sidewalk, on the windowsill, on the fence, and take them home to help. However, if a young bird is healthy and unharmed, usually the best way to help is just put it close to the nest, away from dogs or cats. It is important to remember that many birds have adapted to life in the city and still have ability to take care of the small birds”, says Lucia Deutschova from RPS.

"State Nature Conservancy of SR (SNC SR) provides rescue of injured animals through rehabilitation stations in Slovakia. The most critical situation is now in the capital of Slovakia, as the office in Bratislava as one of all in western Slovakia, which has not temporary aviary for injured animals. This space we need to have for animal waiting for veterinarian treatment, or if it should be a short time fed and takes care prior to release into the wild. In the project LIFE Energy, supported by the European Union, investments are planned for the new aviary; in the meantime we appeal to citizens not take individual birds home and let their parents to take care of them, "says Andrej Kovarik from the SNC SR.
