The power lines will shine also in Slovakia

TS RPS LIFE LIGOT01Press Release - Bratislava, 4. December 2014

The Europe will be shining soon. This fact will be most visible on electric power lines crossing the migration routes of birds. After Italy and Hungary the Experts from Slovakia will also visit Czech republic to exchange experience and search for solutions to prevent birds from collisions. Anyhow the shining power lines alone are not enough to ensure safety for birds.

Solving the problem of collisions is not enough on a territory of only one country. Birds do not respect human borders. In different European countries the responsible Ministries joined efforts to undertake proper measures to prevent birds from collisions. In Slovakia the Ministry of Environment has joined LIFE Energy - a common project of Raptor Protection of Slovakia, Východoslovenská distribučná, a.s., Západoslovenská distribučná, a.s., University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, State Nature Conservancy of the Slovak Republic.

Thousands of birds are dying yearly after collision with power lines due to several reasons. The LIFE Energy Experts will work to identify these reasons and prevent birds from collisions. Sharing experience with other countries will help to achieve this goal.
