Since the calendar spring remains less than a month. In the animal kingdom, some species still sleep, others winter in Africa and some are already nesting. The sleep recorder is the alpine marmot in the Tatra Mountains - it sleeps up to 7 months of the year. White-tailed Eagle, Peregrine Falcon and owls begin to nest in cold days.

"Even susliks from the LIFE Energy areas - Hrhov and Gemerská Hôrka are still sleeping. Last year, the first susliks woke up on March 3, given into account the current cold weather; we do not expect their earlier awakening. The suslik is a very important prey for the Imperial Eagle or Saker Falcon. It belongs to the species, which survive winter by hibernation. Before the cold days they eat well and fall into sleep the whole winter. As soon as they are awake, we begin to feed them so that the populations at the two localities get better,” says Lucia Deutschová from Raptor Protection of Slovakia.
