Project LIFE Energy as implemented in thirteen SPAs (Special Protection Areas) in the period of 1st September 2014 - 31st December 2019 and was aimed at protecting the ten priority bird species. Project pages are currently updated only on an occasional basis.
On Tuesday 9th June a representative of the external monitoring team of European Commission visited some of the project sites. Threee project Special Protected Areas were visited – Dunajské luhy, Lehnice and Kráľová. Current results were presented, especially of the field survey of the power lines carried out to identify the most dangerous parts of it where birds collide and get injured or killed. The methodology for field survey was also presented. Besides the power lines under the survey also lines in SPA Lehnice were visited, where the birds are protected from electrocution and collisions in most of the area by insluators and bird flight diverters.
