Project LIFE Energy as implemented in thirteen SPAs (Special Protection Areas) in the period of 1st September 2014 - 31st December 2019 and was aimed at protecting the ten priority bird species. Project pages are currently updated only on an occasional basis.

  • The methodology for identification of dangerous power lines was prepared (A1) and is being updated upon results of the field survey implemented (C1). The methodology was introduced on an initial training of the project staff (A1).

  • 56 field assistants were trained (A1), 46 of them participated on the field survey (C1). 5932 km of power lines have been surveyed under the baseline - simplified survey in 13 project SPAs. Remaining of 1909 bird individuals of 78 bird species were found. 56609 records have been recorded in the database with more than 62300 pictures. Different bird flight diverters were compared, evaluation of available studies was made in order to select most suitable products (C1).

  • Professional care was ensured for 153 birds in the rescue centres involved in the project during the reporting period (C4).

  • Both S. citellus sites in SKCHVU027 are under regular monitoring (C5), active burrows are being recorded in order to identify size and distribution of the colony on both sites.

  • In order to assess of the socio-economic impact of the project (D4) a study framework and structure draft was generated, 300 municipalities and 280 elementary and high schools within the project area were invited to project cooperation and public survey, 548 respondents joined the public questionnaire.

  • Project web site was designed and is being updated in Slovak and English language on www.lifeenergy.sk (E3). There is a big interest of media in the project results, in the reporting period 4 Press Conferences were organised and 6 Press Releases were submitted do media (E4). We have reached 25 online articles, 6 Print magazines, 10 TV broadcasts, 8 Radio Interviews under E4.

  • Regular communication and cooperation with stakeholders is being kept (E5) as well as the cooperation with other LIFE and non-LIFE projects in Slovakia and other countries (F3), results of the projects are being shared on meetings, conferences and other occasions.

  • Project management is ensured, project staff of RPS and UVLF was contracted and trained (F1).

  • One SC meeting was held in September 2014 (F2).
