The Morava River basin is very rich and valuable nature treasure. Well preserved natural alluvial forests, wetlands and meadows provide habitat of high diversity for wide range of wild species, rare birds included. In 2016 a pair of Saker Falcon, two pairs of Imperial Eagle, a pair of White-tailed Eagle and seven pairs of Red Kite nested in this area. Especially the winter occurrence of Red Kite is numerous. About 200 individuals were observed during the international Red Kite census last year. Obtained population and habitat data are used to the purpose of research and practical management of this species.

“Our company, Západoslovenská distribučná a. s. is conscious that Záhorie is one of the preferred regions where ecological actions are to be done to avoid injuries and death of birds by electric wires. Specific diverters are to be installed on electric wires in 16 kilometers long line section. ZSE Group assists different activities focused on rare bird species protection in the region of Western Slovakia within the 3D Programme,” Michaela Dobošová, the ZSE spokeswoman informs.
