Project LIFE Energy as implemented in thirteen SPAs (Special Protection Areas) in the period of 1st September 2014 - 31st December 2019 and was aimed at protecting the ten priority bird species. Project pages are currently updated only on an occasional basis.
The installation of flight diverters continued in the Western Slovakia, where all diverters planned for the year 2017 were mounted. Power line sections Skalica, Gajary and Vysoká pri Morave in the area of Záhorie were completed. In the Eastern Slovakia, the installations were continued by public utility company VSD on the section of 110 kV power line in the area of Trebišov Olšina. All the equipped sections are regularly checked via monitoring of efficiency of the flight diverters installation, as defined in activity manual.
We have also controlled tree planting, and provided the necessary care for birds in rehabilitation centers.
In September, vital individuals of ground squirrel were searched and nourished, mostly this year's juvenile squirrels. Grass mowing continued in conjunction with batching and biomass removal.
Inspections of the nesting success of the saker falcon and the eastern imperial eagle also continue.
The exhibition in now located in the vestibule of the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology at STU in Bratislava city center, where it is open to public. In cooperation with the project partners and the faculty management, we prepare guided tour for students of the faculty as well as for public, with expected date in November.
