Project LIFE Energy as implemented in thirteen SPAs (Special Protection Areas) in the period of 1st September 2014 - 31st December 2019 and was aimed at protecting the ten priority bird species. Project pages are currently updated only on an occasional basis.
The installation of flight diverters on 22 kV and 110 kV lines continued.
Several controls took place at the Bodza and Lipová sites, where the planting of the tree was carried out.
All project stations provided the necessary care for birds.
With the help of volunteers we brought salt on suslik place. This measurement attracts wild animals and helps to graze localities (management) in both places.
All power lines treated by flight diverters are regularly controlled by monitoring of the effectiveness in terms of the D1 activity manual, findings are updated in the database.
The exhibition in located in the vestibule of the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology at STU in Bratislava city center, where it is open to public. On November 7, a guided tour for students, faculty members and the public took place.
We recorded 5 media outputs in online form and 1 in printed form in the student magazine UVLF Ardo.
We contacted 96 foreign experts to complete an online questionnaire that consisted of 26 questions. The aim of the questionnaire is to collect data on birds. power lines from abroad, gathering information about the implemented activities, effective / ineffective solutions to prevent the impact of the electrocution and collisions. Responses sent from foreign experts will be evaluated and processed in an article in the Slovak Raptor Journal (SRJ) and will serve as a basis for the exchange of information and experience on the issue.
On the 8th November we took part in the Dannubeparks meeting in Budapest. The aim was to professionally contribute to the problems of bird collisisons, to solve this problem and to present the knowledge gained during the implementation of the LIFE Energia project. The meeting also included an expert discussion on preparation of a new LIFE project on birds vs. power lines and related topics.
On the 9th November we participated in the MAVIR conference in Budapest, where we presented an online tool to improve communication between experts in the field on birds vs. power lines.
